Idle problem 82 500SL

My 500 has a problem were most of the time while at idle, the rpm will fluctuate slightly and somtimes die. It is not a rough idle but a fluctuation from 500-530 maybe? Where should I start?

Sounds like you are having a problem with your car searching for idle?This is in my opinion a problem with the potentiometer, this little Jewel controls the idle,if it is going out it will allow the engine to drop below 600rpm or 500rpm and then it will jump back up trying to find the idle spot,it will at time cause the power plant to die,coming to a light or stop sign.JNT;)

your problem will be one of vacuum leaks.start there by finding a mech who can do a smoke test for you.probably injector seals and cups and the air balance hoses that join the injector cups.
