ATF vs. Power Steering Fluid
 

A friend went and put ATF in his power steering reservoir. Will it harm anything? Anybody know the difference besides color? My ps fluid is yellow, but the store stuff is clear. It MB fluid special?

What kind (brand and API specification) ATF... and what kind (brand and API
specification) "power steering fluid"
AND what "make model and year vehicle"?

example: If it's a Honda you would use only Honda Power steering fluid.

If it's a Mercedes ...Mobil 1 ATF will be the power steering fluid of choice.

MB has its private label on their ps fluid. Both MB and over the counter ps
fluid are both clear in color.

One big difference is the price.
