A Question About O2 Sensor on a 560

Will it harm if I permanently disconnect the O2 sensor on my 560SEL 1989? In Kuwait they don't sell them and I'm having an occasional surge, otherwise the idle, D and driving are smooth. That's why I'm suspecting an old O2 sensor.

The engine will run a bit richer and could contaminate the sensor over time. Certainly more carbon build up on the sensor will happen and that might affect it if you ever use it again. IT all depends on how rich it runns.

if you disconnect the 02 light will come on and stay on.

which means that po probably had issues with it and removed the bulb from cluster or your car was built without closed loop operation.

I can't believe it!!! After about two years of having a surge problem that no one solved it it was a bad O2 sensor. Since there are no new O2 sensor in Kuwait I cleaned it with carburetor cleaner and found no more SURGE :D Just adjusted the air mixture again and the engine is so smooth now. Thanks god and thank u guys :)
