Left side turn signal blinks continuously

My 1994 S500 W140 Left side turn signal blinks continuously, it only stops when I turn on the right one and the right one is blinking. Turn the wheel or center the switch and then the left comes on again. Can anyone tell me which relay or part could be the problem.

i would suspect the combo switch on the steering column.
