Remove air injection W116

I am interested in removing the air injection stuff off of a 1980 M110.985
motor.... Is there anything I need to be aware of? I know the function is to inject air into the exhaust outlet at the head to get quicker heat up at start up. Is there any negatives to not using it? Bob

only to the quantity of pollutants coming out of the tailpipe.
