Hi guys:
I have a 99 E430 with 24,000 miles on it and have been asking the dealer about changing the atf since it is more than 2 years old. The answer I get is that it will be taken care of under the FSS schedule when it is needed, however, they do not tell me when that will be.How often should the atf be replaced? The car's manual does not say. Thanks

Just schedule the service at the dealer, then you can get it done. The transmission has synthetic ATF in it, and is suppose to be good for 60K.

Actually, the ATF is "supposed" to be good for the life of the car, or the better part of it. If the trans needs service, no lights come on or anything, only the dealer will know when you take it in. (What happens if you don't take it to dealer? I don't know.)
There have abeen quite a few discussions on this topic, try doing a search on it.

I believe John, blackmercedes, has his ATF renewed at every 60k miles, but I'm sure he pays for it.

We change all transmission oils and differential oils every 100.000km (approx. 60.000 miles).
