ok i looked in my haynes. the intake cam seems the same. the exhaust opens 4 degrees later on the us and closes the same amount later.
is this enough to make a big difference? i think i remember in the old studies this type of difference differentiated the coupe motors from the sedan motors and the later timing causes the tourque to come in at a lower rpm and doesnt change the output total. does this sound right? tom w

My memory is a bit hazy, but I remember that the Euro has a hotter cam, different pistons, and a different exhaust manifold. Intake and heads were the same.

thank you pos.
come to think of it, the studie motors had just one cam so changing the timing affected both intake and exhaust equally. on the 110 just the exhaust timing seems to be different. tom w

A lot depends on WHAT euro engine that you are refering to??!!
Starting in 1980's the euro engines got a boost in HP.. those changes happened to the 110.988/989/990 series of engines. better breathing intakes. My "stock" blueprinted 1982 280E made 200HP at the rear wheels....

Really? Was that found out through a dyno? I might want to try that on my 280E.

Yes, on local chassis dyno...
3 pulls were $40-50. made minor adjustment to fuel & timing to gain 5-6HP
