I recently got a fuel pressure regulator for my 94 C280. I thought it was just remove and replace. but inside the box there is a note that says: "follow manufacturer's recommended procedure for relieving fuel system pressure before installation". should I just remove and replace the unit or is there a method to relieve the system's pressure?

any help is appreciated.

thanks.

First clean the area around the regulator so no dirt gets into the fuel system. I usually just cover the regulator with a rag after I remove the circlip and GENTLY pry up the regulator. It doesn't hurt to twist it back and forth a little first. If the engine has been shut off for a few hours then there will be less residual fuel pressure.

Thanks for the response.

I finally solved my "hard starting" problem.
