190E burning smell
On my 93 190e 2.6, when I turn on the heater, there is this burning smell. Smell like plastic is burning or something. I don't see anything bursting in flame.
My blower motor is new (around 6 months). But my wiper has been acting weird for awhile. Nowadays, it will stop working when it rains... what can be the problem? |
the wiper is single arm and has section with rod to move the arm up and down.take off small cover and lubricate rod.best done with wiper in centre position off the glass.this will free it up.
|
What can the burning smell possibility be? Can it be a 'melting" wiper motor?
|
if the burning smell only present when wiper on,otherwise a v/c gasket leaking onto hot exhaust manifold.
|
I smell it when I turn on the heater fan.

Have look to the exaust pipe a funny idea may be.
Once there was flying plastic bag was stuck on the exaust and was providing burning smell. good luck |
the heater uses lots of outside air so still could be v/c gasket.

I have just started to experience the same thing on my 190E - burning smell when fan is switched on.
My heater fan always squeaked. It also sometimes would slow down and speed up for no reason and once blew the fuse doing this. So the other day I removed the wiper and lubricated all the heater fan with WD40. For a few days things were pleasant, the fan blew hard and quietly. However one day it turned it to full, it started blowing, then slowed down, then sped up, slowed down, and I smelt burning. I haven't dared to use it since! I probably need a new motor, but can't be sure? |
