Question 94 E320 : LCD for Air Temp

I searched the forum but all I could find was previous posts regarding the outside air temp sensor.

Car : 1994 E320 Sedan

Here is my problem. The LCD display for the the outside air temp tends to fade from a very dark black digits to almost a blank display. My question is the LCD something one just order from somewhere or is there a bigger part that houses that also.

I get, what I think are proper readings from the sensor but the display fades in and out over a period of time.

Thanks for any insight,
Reny

I guess you have a bad contact on the ribbon to the LCD. You have nothing to lose ... take it apart and see! On mine, when the ribbon was pushed more firmly against the glass (one end) and against the PCB (the other end) the whole thing worked fine again. It cost me nothing but 40 minutes of my time.

I agree with RodH, mine has been like this from time to time, especially at subzero temps, almost since new. Most likely a bad contact.
