No horn or steering wheel controls

Hi, just looking for ideas ...
I have a facelift W210 ... the steering wheel controls and horn don't work (went out for a week, then came back, now dead for a month). I pulled the airbag and checked the connectors underneath ... nothing amiss. Any suggestions where to look next? ... I'm guessing it's a dirty connector somewhere ...
Thanks,
Rod

What's a "facelift" W210?

The contact spiral(clock spring) is the most common fail part.

... does this pass all (6) wires of the later wheels?

So nex thing is steering wheel off, align the black piece for the 2 screws, remove the clockspring in one piece and ???? (open up/service/replace?).

I've not figured out the connector on the back of the airbag. Is it the press-stud type, or a slide with a catch?

Thanks,
Rod

... so anyone know about the yellow connector on the back of the airbag?
Thanks
Rod

Pull it straight off but make sure you have the battery disconnected anytime that connector is unplugged.
