Hi All,

Just got the car back today form my mechanic. I had him change all fluids, including differential, power steering, oil and filter, trans (well the tranny was rebuilt anyway, so of course the fluid is new), coolant, and brake fluid, and had him lube the entire car at all the lube points.

What a difference, in the hot sun today in the san fernando valley when I picked up my car, AC on Full, in bumper to bumper traffic, the temp did not go anywhere past halfway between 80 and 100. The car's Temp gauge, showed 112 degrees outside, I could not believe it. My car with the fresh collant, ran coller than it did before.

What have you guys done to prep your car for the long hot summer?

My car right now feels like a totally different car. The new springs have lowered the car perfectly, and the car handles much better than it did before.

You guys can see some new pics of the car with the lowering springs on my site. :)

Changed coolant along with serpentine belt and shock.

In Canada though, we're still defrosting from the brutal hell that is winter.

300E just got a new radiator...coolant flush to follow...

ML got A/B service about 1000 miles ago.

The top STAYS down on the SL500...hardtop stays suspended in the garage ceiling.

1993 C250D,
Renewed the leaking condenser and refilled the AC system (last Tuesday) to get cool air again...very useful during the summer :D . Unfortunately do the european MB condensers only last 2-3 years  .
1964 230SL,
Polished and cleaned the complete car for the first time in seven years. The car got a new thermostat as well (temperature was too low).

1990 300SL-24,
Just finished the complete head-job (gaskets, valve seals and guidances, lifters, timing chain, all filters and fluids). I already brought the lower body panels and the model 97 bumpers to the paint shop (model update). I will order cruise control, head light washers and Xenon head lights tomorrow...After everything is installed again I only need to wax the car and summer can continue!

1996 SLK200,
Redirected the hardtop to the trunk and took it out for a ride! Summer rules!

greetingz,

Mbenz,

I love the 64' 230 SL, one of my favorite benzes of all time is that SL body style. So classy, yet so fun looking.

Of course we all know which benzes we love the most, but one day I plan on having a benz like that one in my stable. probably a very early 70's late 60's model. :)

Damnit Alon! I am so jealous of you Benz drivers whose cars seem to be able to maintain a decent temperature. I drove a 300E today. The outside temp was about 83, the A/C was running, and I drove it up a steady incline at about 85 mph. The temp gauge held at 90 C. My 300D has a brand new radiator that is filled with 50/50 MB coolant and today it hit just over the 100 C mark while cruising about 80 up an ever so slight incline. And it's a diesel!!!! Diesels don't usually get very hot. I am so damn irritated. I have no idea what is wrong with it. I am going to post a thread about it right now.

Anyways, glad to hear your car is running good. BTW, I looked at your website (again), and I just can't get over how good the DOHC 3.0 engine looks. It is pure German artwork.

The Pagoda roof SL is definitely one of my all time favourites, alongside the W124. There was a beautiful pale blue 230SL car in my local dealer yesterday, on German plates for some reason.

As for summer prep, I've had all the fluids and filters changed, 4 new tyres, and next week I'm changing the Poly-Vee belt tensioner (the beariungs have dried out and it is shrieking) and I'm having the air con disinfected.
