No Speedo, Odometer, or dash lights, All Electronic

Hey, everyone!!

I aquired an 1983 380 SEC Euro in september of last year. The car was in good shape, with only 175,000km and still is, but as can be expected from a 20 some year old car, it had its flaws, many of which were electrical. My first mistake was to wash out the engine bay when i first got it, because i planed to do some wrenching and it was filthy. Thats when the speedo and odometer went out. Ever since, i have been trying to figure out the problem but just cant seem to figure it out. When it is runing, the speedo needle goes strait to 240km(its max) and then wobbles a bit depending on if im driving or not, and the odometer does nothing. Now last month when installing an amp, somthing happened and my already dim dashlights went out taking all the rest of my interier lights with them (temp controlls, light switches...ect). I have already taken out the assembly and even removed the entire speedo/odometer dial and cant find the fix for both problems. Help would be MUCH appereciated!! This has been eating away at me for months now and i am desperate. Thanks so much for reading this all! Its all very frusterating, since I know that at one point it did all work!:( And for any one with help, could you please explain in as much detail as possible?? thanks, im just not overly familier with these cars.

Yessss!!

After searching the forum, I learned what has been causing the lighting problems. It was the reo that i never even knew existed. I had no clue about that knob and that it did anything other than reset the trip. Now I just have to fix the speedo and odometer!! Any sugestions??

those instrument panels often suffered from a bad ground.run wire from back of panel[under screw on metal surface]to cluster of brown wires right behind panel[about 3 10mm head screws].

Thanks for the info David, Ill fool around with the ground. Because the needle does move it obviously has power, but somthing is messing it up. Ill take a look at this. Thanks
