300 TE rear tailgate motor issue
1992 300 TE about 150K miles.
Rear tailgate motor stopped working all of the sudden. The one that pulls the tailgate down so you only have the close the tailgate gently. Is there a fuse I'm missing or something else? |
Pretty common for wiring harness to tailgate to fail.
Wires deteriorate and break from all the flexing when door is raised. New one is ~$110 and not too hard to replace. |
Finally got around to diagnosing the problem. The microswitch was not allowing the mechanism to engage because the latch was to hard to move. It just needed a little lubrication. Works fine now.
