"Supply pump" access in 300TE
Hi everyone,
I have a 1990 300TE 4MATIC and I'm trying to access the "supply pump" that takes care of the central locking system. I'm almost there but in order to remove the carpet, I have to take care of the plastic covers (numbered 1 and 2 in the enclosed picture) without breaking anything. Do I only have to pull up harder or is there a trick to remove them easily? Thanks for any advice... Philippe |

Yes you have to remove those 2 covers to be able to peel back the carpeting enough to find the locking pump.
The cover #1 for the seat pegs slides forward and lifts off - there are molded grooves that slide along lips on the metal bracket. The cover #2 for the door sill lifts straight up - there are clips that grab the pinch welded seam in the body below the sill cover. Best to gently start prying at one end and carefully lift it up.

Great, now get on eBay and find one of the cheap $15 remote unlock kits, and follow this thread to get it hooked up.
DIY Keyless Entry Door Lock - W126 and W124 Drop down to post #59, there is some bad information higher up in the thread.
