I just installed my third brake light in a W126. In my haste i did not confirm the wiring was correct.ie. red to center, black to base. My question, does it really matter. I know the electrons will flow either way through a bulb but I need to know for sure I will not fry the cruise or something.

No answer yet so I am bumping to a current post.
Anybody?????? |
Will cause no immediate problem. The current will simply run through the bulb in the opposite direction. However future problems may occur that could cause unnecessary complications like a blown fuse if someone should short out the socket thinking it is wired correctly. (because the black wire is connected to where the hot wire should be a vise versa.)

Now why didn't I think of that.
