Wet floor driver's side W126 redux

I see water on the floor just under the brake pedal after a rain. Car sitting in the driveway--not driven, so it isn't wind-forced into somewhere. I did some investigation today, It has been dry for a week, and there is no water in the car. After each of the following checks, I waited an hour or more before proceeding to the next area, just in case it took that long for the leak to show.

I opened the sunroof, and poured a quart or more of water down each drain at the front. No water on the floor.

I poured another half gallon of water on the driver's side cowl area, at the bottom of the windshield. No water on the floor.

I poured more water in the center of the cowl area, where the W/S/W motor and transmission sit. I even ran a hose into this area, making sure to douse the seals on the W/S/W arms. No water on the floor.

Anyone have any ideas where the water comes in? Is there a "typical" water leak that I haven't investigated?

Sunroof Drain

Try pouring water on the sunroof... I bet somehow the sunroof drain tube is plugged or has come loose...

Check for leaks around where the windshield is bonded to the chassis. Very common area to leak especially if the windshield was not installed properly.

ggray,
I did pour water into the sunroof drains directly--no leaks, or plugs

dpetryk,
Are you talking about the top side of the windshield? I did not try that. I cannot see how the bottom could be leaking-there is to much bond visible thru the glas, and the water would have to travel uphill. I could imagine that while driving, but not parked. I will try the top and sides of the windshield and report back.

Isn't there a drain tube for the climate control evaporator condensate, somewhere around the driver's and passenger's footwell, near the trans hump? I can't remember if there is one on each side, but seems like there is. You might check this.

Randy, that would be a good idea---if the A/C worked ( next project!)

Maybe its fixed. When I first poured water into the sunroof drains, it did not flow on the driver's side. The tube just filled up and stayed full. That is when I ran the old speedometer cable thru it. It was not much of an obstruction--I just hit it with the cable, and whooosh, out went the water. So maybe that was it. I haven't been able to get water to leak into the footwell since, and I really shot some water everywhere with the hose.
