ABS light
Why is my ABS light coming on??? What do I need to check?
|
It could be two things:
1. Wheel sensors. (Most common) 2. OVP relay. |
Has the light come on, and stayed on? If it goes out (after a re-start) and then comes back on after a tap or 4 of the brakes, it could also be the brake light switch (stop lamp switch).
Best thing, would be to check for codes. |
First suspect would be fuse on top of OVP....

"Always check to see if the 5 cent part is broke first." P.S. One of these days and ABS system is actually going to fail and we will all be dumbfounded... |
Not so much that the part is a nickle, but that system feed power is always a first check on todays cars b/c so much of their operation is electronic dependant.. I see so many parts get changed before verifying the fuse or fuse connection....I guess people just expect the worst from the get-go....

The light goes off after restart, then if I get on the brakes the ABS freaks out then the light comes on. By freaks out, I mean pushes the pedal back and removes braking power.
I just checked, the brake lights work properly. The fuse box is 100%, but I am not sure where this OVP is. I never replace parts until I have clear indication and trouble shooting... |
I would first clean the ABS sensors on both front wheels.
