Removal of Ignition Lock Cylinder

Hey Guys,

Need some major help here. 94 C220 ignition would not start, would not turn over nothing. All lights came on, etc. So someone here told me probably the Ignition Lock Housing. So I have the bottom part of the dash out, the instrument cluster and I am working on the switch. I put the key in and now it will not even come out. I have pushed the button under the wheel that lets the lock slide out, but it will not go anywhere because of the key of course. Does anyone know how to get the black cover off near the key? And also is that whole thing one part or many? It seems rather large to get out of there.

Jason

I'm in the middle of the same on my 124.

If you can't get the key to turn to the accessory position... sufice it to say your screwed... but 'how screwed' may vary.

The easiest solution is to buy all new parts (on my 124 thats 4 parts - totaling approx $250) and start cutting out the old stuff.

I am going to try and save and gut the steering lock housing, but we'll see. ;)
