I just got home. It was a good time. I didn't beat all the guys I wanted to but I won my class. (No competition, it was a light turnout).

The car sometimes pushed at the limit. I think the suspension travel snubs that I installed (thicker than stock) may be causing this. I am going to remove them before my next outing.

The car developed a miss after the third run and I almost loaded it up, but I decided to run it around the lot a little and it smoothed out above idle. I suspect it may be a dirty injector. I put fresh gas in on top of last years gas and neglected to put in any injection cleaner. I may need to drain the tank too.

The new sport seat works very well. I'm gonna put on my smaller steering wheel if it fits and possibly a longer arm on the ps gearbox.

I got over exuberant on my third or fourth run and drifted wide on the exit of the crossover and got two wheels in the grass. I nearly spun when I got back on the track and missed a gate. DNF.

Most of the time the car was very pitchable and would drift on throttle and off like you want it to but after the third run or so I noticed it starting to push. The temperature was rising all day so that may have been it or it could have been the brand new tires.

MY limited slip is not limiting slip as much as I would like. I think it is working but not as much as I would like.

The old benz is a conversation starter, especially after they see it drifting from turn to turn!

Good fun!:P

Tom,
Any updates as to the overall performance of this upgrade? Would an '83 240D diff housing be a good candidate for swapping in an LSD? How much did you end up spending on this upgrade, total?
Thanks for your time!

Yeah, what did you end up using tom? I just joined the thread.

If thats all its used for, how about just welding it?

Well it works really well as a street lsd. On the track it allows a little too much slip with the really sticky tires on a tight turn, but would probably be fine if I could fit stiffer sway bars. In any case I have retired the mighty benz and am now autocrossing a miata. I have been thinking of selling off the old euro to free up garage space. I am not sure how much money I have in it but it is done in a 369 diff which is the same as in a 240d.
