2001 S500 Question
I have a 2001 S500 with 71000 miles on it. When I come to a stop light the car feels as if it wants to shut off and sometimes is slow taking off from the stoplight. Would this be a fuel filter problem or a fuel pump problem?

Welcome,
Has the car been serviced?? at 5 YEARS or 100K miles the engine needs to have service done....like new plugs, filters... IF that has already been done then the mass air flow sensor is the most likely problem. |
Is the problem always present? Or does it just do it once in a while? If the air filter housing isn't properly fitted to the air mass sensor, it can almost kill the engine when coming to a stop after a short run. Just pull the air filter up gently from the air mass sensor. It should take considerable effort to detach it. If it comes right off, you've found the problem. If it's tight, you may want to check the ignition wires. I see lots of them go bad after about 50K.
