124 interior lights / doorswitches?

None of my interior lights come on when i open the doors on my '89 300TE.
I can turn on the over head lights manually. The back seats and tailgate lights don't come on at all (even when i use the panel switch) The back door lower lights (Entry lights?) work when those doors are opened. When i depress the front door switches i hear a clicking noise from the plastic "C" (i think) Relay. After pushing in the switches a bunch of times, I pulled the relay and it was warm. I then discovered that this is the relay for the power seats (????), so i returned it. I have checked the rear bulbs.

Any Thoughts?

The seat relay is in the fuse box module. remove the fuse box lid, then loosen the 4 phillips screws all the way (you don't actually have to pull them out- they'll be safer in their holes in the relay lid) You might need a stubby driver to get the screw at the base of the windshield. Pull the lid up and towards the front of the car. There is a line of cube shaped relays on the left side of the box (nearest to the engine block) The seat relay is all the way in the back at the base of the windshield - mine was a yellowish translucent plastic. To pull it out I had to 1st remove the 2 chrome relays in front of it. The chrome relays only go in 1 way (there's a plastic locating pin on the bottom).
The seat relay has 5 pins on the bottom - a line of 3 and a line of 2. The 3 pins go on the right side (nearest the fender) you can see the contact pin holes in the relay box with a flash light.

Have you checked the switches in the door jambs on the driver's door?
Those get a lot of dirt and wear.....easy and cheap fix.
BE CAREFUL when pulling out, the plastic clip on the back has tendancy to come off and short on the body.

My, am i a moron. I had the switch on the wrong setting. The fronts work now.

Number11: you are not moving the fuse box, you are removing the relay cover behind (closer to the windshield). The fuses will stay where they are.

300 CE dome light switch

I must have missed this thread while I was on vacation.
1988 300CE
Here are my questions:
Dome light comes on sporadically when I open the driver's door. When it does not come on, a side to side wiggle of the top of the three switches gets it to light up. Twice when I have gotten out of the car and left the door open, the dome light began blinking off and on rapidly.
The ground light on the bottom of the door works fine ( always illuminates)

Passenger door switch works fine, as does the switch on the dome light itself.

Any thought on the problem? Is the switch "post" sticking and would a little WD or CRC help? If not, what's the fix? And what do the other two switch "posts" control.

Visor lamps on the drivers side mirror don't work either. Related problem? Passenger mirror lamps work fine. All other cabin and instrument lamps work fine.

Thanks for your help in advance.
