Rear seat back TE?
I Can't get the passenger seat back to fall forward (2nd row) I see 2 spring-loaded levers at the bottom of the seatbacks which i have tried to push down, but nothing gives.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Zack 1989 300 TE 160k |

Common problem, especially if they haven't been used much.
For more info go here 1995 E320 automatic SW, rear second seat folding? Condensed version: There is a spring loaded pin in the door jam. When the door is closed it pushes the pin into the lock mechanism. The real potential problem is the cable in the wheel well that connects to the foot paw that is held down when the seat cushion (for your butt, not your back) is in the seating position. It's an interlocking safety mechanism for both the seat cushion and seat back. Assuming door jam pin operates correctly you have two choices: a] Take it to MB dealer to release or 1b] Flip seat cushion forward 2b] Lay on your back in cargo area, place heels of both feet against top of seat, retract knees to chest, and gorilla kick the top of seat back. Yes, it can take that much force. Been there -> done that! Bob The levers your are fiddling with are interlocks to the seat cushion [for your butt] but don't affect the interlock mechanism for the seat back. |

Marvelous piece of engineering huh? It would appear that the MB engineers didn't want us putting those seats down, or only on really, really special occasions.

On the other hand...
Flipping the seat cushion up and folding the seat back down gives us 6' storage length and removing the seat cushion adds 6" all with a flat floor. How many SUV's have this cargo space? Bob PS Only other "current" cars were the Ford Taurus / Mercury Sable and Volvo 90 wagons. |

Thank Y'all so much. I kept pushing down on the floor catch which, of course only locked it more. For the passenger side i resorted to the gorilla kick. It works.
