I have two questions about a 1993 190E. First the rear driver side window will not go up. The window has about an inch to the top. All of the other windows work fine except this one. Does anyone know what could be causing this problem. It has been raining here in Raleigh, NC for the past week or so, and this has put the car out of commission. The second question I have is about the digital outside temperature gauge. There is no longer a reading on it. Is there any solution to this problem.

Does the window move at up and down? You will have to remove the rear interior door panel to investigate. The regulator may hav a problem. A regulator costs about $120 to $135 and is not that difficult to replace. Window regulators are not a strong point on 201 chassis.

The window problem you've described sounds like the regulator to me, too. The outside temp display with a blank reading is probably the display unit in the dash, which is replaceable seperately. You should have the system diagnosed, there is a possibility it is the temp probe out on the bumper, this is usually what goes bad, but again, a blank display sounds like a bad display unit......Gilly

On the window: It sounds like the teeth are broken on the gear that raises and lowers the window. There are two types, one is metal and one is plastic. You will have to remove the door panel to investigate. This happened to my 190E and was pretty simple to replace. Good luck.

LoveLEE,
I need more info. When you operate said window do you hear the window motor running or not? Does the window attempt to move then stop? It could just be the switch, I replaced the switch on my girlfriend's 1993 190E in minutes. Thom |
The window will go up to a point about an inch from the top. It will go down fine but just will not reach the top.

Ok, that makes sense now. No, it isn't the switch then. Sounds like the others on this thread have nailed it down. Cheers.
