1993 190E 2.6 Sportline LE
I'm not sure if this is the right list to post this but here goes. I found a nice 2.6 LE and am getting it checked by Enrique tomorrow. It has a few faults and I know The Professor Enrique will find more. Here are a couple that I noticed in my preliminary spin around the block. The auto shifter is very loose. Could just be the cross pin that holds the the shifter in place. The ignition is loose a little. Not the whole ignition just the tumbler part. The gas pedal has a slight delay and then the rpms pick up. Could be the gearing or the pedal or the throttle or the injectors or lots of other things. The shocks are very stiff and could be original. Not sure but they look it. At a long idle in park the engine only gets to 110 but the fans dont kick on at 105. The rpms idle right away at 550. The brakes feel great compared to my 1988 300CE. Is there any difference between the two? When I checked the play from Drive to Reverse with my foot on the brake and the door open to listen I did hear a bit of engagement going into Drive. However going into Reverse was quiet and troublefree.
Well those are my initial impressions. its a blast to drive and I hope Enrique thinks its worth the dosh. I already know that the exhaust will need to be replaced with a stock unit. The free-flow custom crap set-up could be whats making the engine seem like its holding back at low speed. I'll get it checked at my smog tech and then tell the seller he needs it to smog before I buy or he needs to bring the price down to reflect that. Fingers are crossed that Enrique gives it a decent bill of health. Regards, Jason
