Problem with my alarm 300ce

Hi,

I have a 92' 300ce (W124, 119,000 miles, all original parts except battery), with an alarm problem. One day I manually turned off my stereo then turned off the car and then the stereo turned back on with the cassette reels just rolling and heating up to the point that I saw smoke. Ever since then I have had problems with my alarm. Now my alarm just turns on while I am driving or even when I open my doors at random. Now I have cut the two brown wires coming from a little chip from inside the siren to the actual siren itself. Then I disconnected the ground cable and then my battery. Now I hope tomarow morning it will all work.

I have been reading and it seems the best thing to do is disable the alarm modulator. I do not know what it looks like or how to disable it. I do know its under passenger carpet though.

Can anyone help me fix this, by either turning off this modulator(if it solves the problem ) or any other suggestions.

SORRY FOR THE LONG POST.
Thanks for any input

Your alarm problem may very well relate to one or more bad sensor switches. Check the alarm sensor switches, there is one for hood, each door, and trunk. Switches are very inexpensive.

I had a bad sensor switch for the hood which caused my alarm to go off for no apparent reason. I’d lock the car and five minutes later the alarm would sound. Problem was intermittent too.

I wouldn't change the system or cut any wires. I have no idea what's going on with the stereo.

You can also just go into the passenger footwell and unplug the harness(es) going to the alarm module and be done with it. That's what I did on mine, as the factory alarm system is junk IMHO.

Yah i just disconnected the modulator to my alarm and it struck my that my alarm was not a factory alarm. Well to my knowledge "Chapman" alarm is after market. Anyways some one did the wiring wrong and bypassed the remote control that was suppose to come with it and connected the alarm to the stereo. I found this all out because of another person with a similar problem at another forum.

Thx for the help.

and yes the alarm is USELESS!!!
