Does anyone know how to hot wire a '84 280E. I purchased one recently mostly for the interior and European headlights. I don't have the key and before I spend $50.00 from the MB dealer to have one made, I thought I would try start it and see if it could be made drivable. If not I don't need the key.

But wouldnt u still have the steering lock to worry about? Also a key is only like 23$ at least thats what i paid in the Chicago land are


Never mind, i re-read your post. Im not sure on a gasser,but i know on a diesel, however i dont think that would help you:D someone else should chime in soon

Its likely not possible or would be a lot of work....just get a key made. Like was mentioned, they're under $30 usually.

if you have tons of time, you could pull the tumbler out of the door lock, and mock up a key, then file down the places on the key that force the leaves out. # 41 key blank at wallmart ought to do it.
