W210 manuals

I’ve been reading here for 5 yrs now and have really learned a lot, but I just got my first off-warranty repair bill for my ’02 W210 and it’s time to get serious about learning to work on this car. There will always be a lot I can't do but there's still a lot I can.

Mercedes sells the W210 Infoaccess CD-ROM for $95 (http://www.mercedestechstore.com/w210.htm) but there is also the Model 210 Star Classic Service Library DVD for $149.95(http://www.startekinfo.com/StarTek/outside/8001/?requestedDocId=8001).

Does either of these manuals offer any significant advantage over the other? Is there information on the Star Tekinfo site that I couldn't get from their DVD? Looking at the price of daily and weekly site subscriptions, it wouldn't take long for that DVD to pay for itself if it has what I need.

Thanks -

I have seen the previous on line, (http://w210.pietrzyk.net/Default.htm) free and have purchased the DVD, I suggest you go for the DVD it has more detail and more info.

I kept meaning to order that DVD, but hadn't gotten around to it -- until now. I just got off the phone. It's going to be a slow "seven to ten business days."

the info CD is an enhanced owners manual and has some overview of tech stuff
and videos that you may never see in a general service manual, eg how the
Smartkey system and interlock works. I think they compliment each other
quite nicely....like viewing one as a conversation video.....and the other a
nuts and bolts, clinical data compilation (wiring and vacum schematics) etc

considering that MB labor is hoving about $110/hr, the two CDs are well worth
the roughly $250, i opine.

Very true, there is also Alldata on line subscription.

My DVD arrived today via FedEX. I'm happy with it overall, but disappointed that it does not cover the transmission in my '96. You also must have the DVD in the drive to use the manual, but that's not a huge concern.

I might get the 124 manual just for the older transmission information. The 722.6 is extensively covered in the 210 DVD.
