I recently purchases a 1981 380SLC and the Fan goes on, the compressor kicks on, but it doesn't cool, I have been told that I need a freon recharge, if so, what would an average price for a recharge be?
Thanks,
Dan

Depends on WHO does the work.

I have a 609 certification(I can buy R-12). About a week ago I paid $28.00 for a 12oz. can. This was a jobbers rate - off from $35.00.

I hear people around my neck of the woods saying that garages are charging $75.00 - $100.00 for a lb. of R-12. Some charge less. Again, it all depends on who is doing the work.

Freeze -12

Check this site for R-12 sub that costs $82.00 for 12 can, 12oz each ($6.08/can). Must have 609 certification which can be accomplished at that site (some study + $20). Also can buy R134 in 12oz or canisters for $68.00.

Do a little studying and DIY to save!

Convert to new type refrigerant. The whole kit costs only $39.00... complete with three cans of refrigerant and the tools you need to do the job yourself.

Smiles.
