Hi, I have a 88 300ce. I have searched various mercedes forums and looked several times on the engine to locate the location of egr valve and where its tube joins at the intake manifold but I just can't seem to find them. I am trying to clean the egr tube. If someone has photos for them please post it. It will be greatly appreciated as I have already spend hours and hours searching for them. Thanks very much. Rick.

First, look at the front exhaust manifold. If there is a flat spot on the top of it but no mushroom looking thing with a metal pipe and plastic vacuum line, your engine doesn't have an EGR valve. My 89 300SE M103 doesn't have one, my 420SEL does have one.

Thanks for the replies especially Texholdem's photos. I really get to know my car better. Now I am leaning toward the fact that my car has no EGR valve since I don't see an EGR valve mounted on my exhaust manifold like M104 engines. Thanks

It is strange that at Performance4Benz they offer the EGR Valve for 1988 300CE

yes, that is why I am so puzzled that I can't find it at all. Here are some more pics. #8 is the EGR valve.

Not all M103 engines have an EGR valve.

I have a 1989 300TE with the venerable M103 engine and it has no EGR.

I have a 1991 300CE with the M104 engine (early version) and it does have an EGR valve.

If yours does not have one, consider yourself fortunate. One less part to replace.

And kudos to Texholdem for takign the time to take and post pictures and then identifying common parts.

That was pretty cool.
