smog results for 1993 190 2.6 with crappy cat

I'm considering buying a 93 sportline LE that has an aftermarket cat broken inside. These are the results taken the other day in Los Angeles, CA.
15 mph 14.3 %CO2, 0.3 %O2, 157 HC, 0.36 CO, 1092 NO.
25 mph 14.7 %CO2, 0.0 %O2, 93 HC, 0.13 CO, 399 NO.

The Max and Avg for the test are as follows
HC 86 and 21 @ 15
HC 51 and 13 @ 25
CO .50 and .06 @ 15
CO .48 and .05 @ 25
NO 697 and 150 @ 15
NO 724 and 136 @ 25

I'm no expert but it appears that replacing the cat with a larger, better unit will get me 90% better results. If I buy this car tomorrow I'LL need the cat and something of a major maintenance tune-up. The car will need a transmission servicing by the great Wolfgang. The take-off is a little hard but once under load its great.
The head gasket and valve seats and guides will also need replacing eventually. There is a small leak at the front of the motor. I'll do the front cover gasket myself and see whats up.
The sunroof is the other problem, it has a broken guide on one track. I guess I could buy a good used one and replace myself.

Any help appreciated,
Jason

Replace the cat and you'll pass with flying colors.

if you remove the vac line from the ignition module and plug the line you should find significant reductions accross the board which should pass it.

Thanks for the input

but the 190E Sportline had some serious issues so I went over to my master tech where I knew about a mint 1987 300E sedan. It's got high miles but the maintenance has been performed on this car from day one. I signed it over and drove to my smog tech and the car passed on the first go. With the original Cat! This is one great car.

Thanks,
Jason
