1989 300E transmission fluid change
I have a 1989 300E and I need to do a trany fluid flush.
How many foot pounds do I tighten the bolts when I put the pan and gasket back and in what pattern do tighten them? Also how much fluid does the transmission take and what kind should I use? Thanks Fab |

"Foot pounds" are too much for these small screws.
Pattern is meaningless, as Mercedes doesn't use crappy gaskets.

i use mobil 1. the cost amortized over 30k miles isn't that much.
i don't know about torque... i kind of do it by feel, but don't overtighten.

The torque spec is 60 inch-pounds. Unless, you have a inch-pound torque wrench, just use a 1/4 drive ratchet and go very light. You are just trying to compress the gasket enough to seal it.
Be sure to drain the Torque Converter and the transmission . Many threads in this forum on the subject. Use Search feature. Steve |
