DEPO/Hella/Bosch

I would like to inspect the DEPO units. I was looking around UK and German Ebay the last two days. The Bosch/Hella units are used and seem to be sold as one lamp at a time. Did see some great hella indicator lamps though.

I'm in Los Angeles. Where is Import Vision? I'll lok them up. Thanks everyone for the posts.

It's really funny but I just keep liking this car more and more.

There is a little play in the steering and there is something in the front wheels. Could be just old shocks or maybe something wierd like hub bearings. I cant tell. It still has a shimmy in the steering at sharp braking.

Thanks everyone for writing.

Jason

Jason:

ImportVision is in Simi Valley, California. I figure about 20 miles or so from Enrique's shop. They are off the 118 Freeway.

Call Ken at 805.306.1694.

Tell him what you want, get a price (check their website first to confirm the lowest price) and then tell them when you are going ot show up.

If you pick up the parts directly fro mtheir "store" you save yourself S&H. You have to pay them cash (I don't think they are et up to take CC or checks at the store).

You can inspect the headlights, if you don;t like them, you don't buy them.

You have to supply your own bulbs, however. That's OK with me because I like to SilverStar bulbs, so I would have ended up replacing the "stock" bulbs anyway.

The city bulbs used in the DEPOs are different from the Bosch city bulbs. Bosch headlights use a bayonet type T4W bulb. The DEPO use a push-in bulb. It's bulb #168 in the Sylvania catalog. Light output for the 168 and
T4W bulbs is the same.

Good luck and post pics.

Thanks for the info. I'm checking the site now. Might be able to drive there early in the morning. I'm in the Pacific Palisades area of Los Angeles and Simi Valley is not far at all. The 300E could use the open road time.

One thing:

My DEPO lights from Importvision did not include the new plug hardware.

They told me to just plug each wire in individually. I was not impressed with that.

My HELLA lights did come with the new plugs.

But the DEPO lights themselves were fine.

That's true. You do have to buy your own 6-pin plugs. They are cheap from the dealer.

At I/V they don't offer a lot of tech support. I guess they assume (rightly or not) that the customer already knows how to wire the lamps.

I paid $200.00 for mine, including California sales tax. I figure that it was a good deal.

Right. The US version uses a 4-pin connector.

It is funny, because you only use 4 pins...unless of course you are going to wire teh city light bulb. Some people don't bother.
