I am just about finished with my 82 380SL restore and had a question. I just replaced the A/C compressor with a 134a conversion. The A/C works fine but I have noticed that the compressor will continuously cycle. I noticed that I have lines running to fuel distributor and assume that is to cool the fuel. Is it normal for this to occur? Is there a way to shut off the A/C to the evaporator. The A/C has not been working since I have owned the car so I don't know how its suppose to behave. Thanks for the help.

What you describe is "short cycling" and this is most often caused by insufficient refrigerant charge. What is your high side pressure?
Have a great day, |
I had to guess on exact amount of 134a but I think I am within a few ounces. Head pressure runs bewteen 200-220 psi and the suction runs 18-25 psi.
