Found PVC, EGR and MAF should be cleaned on regular basis. Searched and searched couldn't find them on my 88 300CE. It is because my car has none. But my car does have KJettronic instead of MAF. So question is is KJettronic cleanable, how and where? Thanks.

My '82 BMW has K-Jetronic. I cleaned the airflap and "throat" in the airbox with carb cleaner. I was replacing the rubber bellows between the airbox and intake manifold and noticed the aforementioned internals appeared to have a maple syrup-colored coating around and on it.

K-Jetronic systems are VERY sensitive to vacuum leaks. Any "false air" that bypasses the airflap will lean the mixture going to the cylinders. Mine is tuned perfectly (and all hoses replaced) and I will stall the idling motor if I unscrew the oil filler cap. I've heard the same is true if I would pull the dipstick but I haven't tried that yet.

If the rubber boot going to your airbox is not soft and supple, replace it. You'll have to remove it to check the cleanliness of the airflap anyway so you'll have a good look at it.

Now I understand one more thing now. K-Jetronic is not a substitue of MAF at all as I first thought it was. If I am wrong please correct me. Is K-jetronic a fuel distributor or just fuel injector?

K-Jetronic (also called CIS, Continuous Injection System) is primarily a mechanical fuel injection system. It started off as just "K-Jetronic", then Bosch added an O2 sensor and frequency valve and it became "K-Jetronic with Lamda Control." It's final incarnation was "KE-Jetronic" which had a differential pressure regulator built into the side of the fuel distributor.

ALL of the variations use a fuel distributor and ALL of the variations use mechanically actuated (by fuel pressure) injectors. Injection pressure is @70 psi and ALL the injectors spray continously.
