124 Evaporator core replacement- which brand?
Another A/C thread about the dreaded evaporator core replacement. There is lots of info about doing it, etc. on the various forums, but has the MB factory part been redesigned to elevate the corroding metal issue? Or not? Any difference between any of the aftermarket evaps?
There is a wide range of prices. My MB dealer wants $800 for the evaporator, after my 15% discount. Mercedesshop has two aftermarket - ACM includes expansion valve $340 and Proliance $213. The ACM part looks to be all aluminum (core piping and fins), while the Proliance part has a copper core and aluminum fins. Thanks, Dave Last edited by whunter; 09-04-2007 at 11:17 PM. |

I went with the ACM. Make sure your vendor packs it well.
Plenty of info here: 124 evaporator replacement

ACM! It is the only one that fits well. (I know because I sent another less expensive one back) Fastlane has them for about $340.00
