300e 2.8 differential
I have a quick question for you guys. I am back to my old 300E that I never did any think major and minor actually for the last 2 years. I have now 225k mile and is driving better than ever. The only think is that the differential started to leak and I was thinking to replace it. Anybody have any idea what ratio does the 300e 2.8 1993 has?
Also do you think I should get a 2.47 ratio for better fuel economy? I have no need for quick takeoffs but I am driving long distance on the interstates. If this sounds like a good idea to you please give me some indication where I can look for it.

Pretty sure the 3.2 motor was getting a 2.65 at that point. It used to be stamped on the housing. Of course if you're willing to get dirty you can also mark the tire, rotate the drive shaft and count. I've never heard of a 2.47 but the V8s were getting a 2.24 I think, which would get nice mileage if you're willing to live with the compromises.

Thanks for replay.
So I have to look for 400E 93 or E420 94 or 95 differential? How about S320 Because I think I did spot one of those in a junk yard?
