how hard is it to do this with a hair dryer? i don't have a heat gun. I have a putty knife and miscallaneous other tools. I assume someone must have used hair dryer. Emblems have been on for 6 years

thx

An old trick for badges that are glued on is to use dental floss. Carefully slide it back & forth, and the emblem will come off. No heat required, unless you just want to fry your paint for the hell of it. Of course, I’m not sure about your car, but the older MB emblems used studs that went through the sheet metal. You best check first.

Ahhh yes, dental floss. Sounds good. I will try that and see how it goes. thx...

I have done this to the 2.3 emblem that is stuck on, but the 190E badge is held on with the studs through the metal, obviously if I take that one off there will be holes, so what could I do to cover them? Thanks, Scott

I removed the 300E badge this afternoon, and there are some bits of glue that the WD40 won't take off. Any suggestions for other things to try?

Thanks,
Mike

Mike,

Try nail polish remover. Just a guess, but I think that could work.

3M makes a great adhesive remover which works well on glue from badges and old decals. It will not hurt paint (read directions on back side of product). Does not hurt *normal* paint.

Look for it at better autosupply stores, sometimes even at Pep Boys.

Most Nail Polish removers are acetone based ...
Bad for paint or plastic..

The 3M adhesive remover worked beautifully. Thanks for the tip.
