will 240d fan and water pump fit 110 injected engine?
my fan clutch is binding at rest with a cool motor so that means it is bad, right?
so could i bolt on the brand new 240d water pump and fan on my 110 engine? it seems the pump must bolt up as they carry the same gasket number, but i wonder if the length of the pump is the same? tom w |
One catalog I was looking at seems to indicate that every engine used in the 123 took the same water pump, except for the Euro 280E. Also, does the 280 have fan clutch? 240D does not have one.

the original fan is clutched, but mine seems to be binding when cold which seems like a bad thing.
i am autocrossing the car so i am thinking the much lighter two forty fan is the way to go. if it fits. i have since gone out and looked at them and come to the conclusion that it is worth tearing it all apart to see if it will fit. iow i think it will. thanks for the comments. tom w |
if want to see fan blades in the radiator....go ahead.
The 240D/300DT fans are designed for a max RPM of 4800.. the M110 will spin at least 6500..... you figure it out. I just removed the clutch fan & installed an LARGE electric fan for cooling when I autocrossed MY 280E |
hmmmmm.
food for thought. you think the ac aux fan will work? btw, broken fan blades will not hit the rad. they will hit the inner fender, the hood or the hoses. dont ask how i know. tom w |
