1993 400E exhaust help
 

Hello everyone,
I have a 1993 400E. I have heard an annoying rattling on my car recently, and when I checked it out, I noticed that the outer casing of my exhaust, was broken and loose at one spot. I was wondering if anyone knew how important this is to the exhaust system. I was thinking of just cutting off the loose piece and seeing how it holds up, instead of replacing it altogether. If anyone has had this problem or has any recomendations that would awsome. Thanks.
