E320 07/1994 no engine light/ abs and asr lights are on at all time

I would greatly appreciate if someone can help ,e on this one.
i just purchased a 07/1994 e320 i have a abs and asr light on at all time. second i have no CHECK ENGINE light on at all. i check the bulb on it is fine. when i go to the diagnostic connector to check for code nothing is blinking or happening. one thing i do know that car has new overload voltage protection relay and previous owner had install a new battery i have driven about 200 miles since then. the guy told me that abs and asr light came on when he replaced the front pads i dont know if he replace the sensor as well.
i dont know where to start i have tried find the diagnostic module but couldn't locate i don't know if i am heading the right direction. please advise me on this one if you can tell exactly where the damn diagnostic module is i will greatly appreciate and advise me where should i start first.
thanks in advance.

Do you see the diagnostic connector box in front of the battery??

Does that model use the same stop/brake light switch as the later W210 cars, or something similar? That's what fixed that light in my '98 E-class.

Cheers, John

If you replaced the stop lamp switch yourself, did you pull the stem all the way out before installing it? It is self adjusting.

At Diagnostic Box, check for 12v power at terminals #1 [neg] and # 16
[ pos] with a voltmeter or test lamp. Key ON

Arthur Dalton 05-19-2007 10:06 AM

Ok

Check the fuse on top of the OVP relay .. and spin the fuses in the fuse box . I wil look up Circuit 15 power feed fuse#.

Also take a look at the wires around the sensors at the thermostat housing..is the insulation cracked/flakey ?

circuit 15 is used for what? and do you have a wiring diagram for that one? plz

If you want a tutorial, please just use the Search feature. It is all in the Archieves.
I simply give you a few test steps to perform to help narrow down your complaints and do not want to have to explain the function of each circuit as we go through the steps.
Did you check the OVP fuse yet?

usman21 05-19-2007 12:04 PM

yes i have checked the ovp fuse and it is good but i went ahead and replaced it with a new fuse, i flip all the fuses like you said. now i am stuck at the circuit #15?

usman21 05-19-2007 12:08 PM

i also check the wires and the sensor around the themostant hosing and beyond everthing looks good to me. no crack o flakey.

Circxuit 15 is CE A1 lamp circuit.

OK, now , turn key to ON [ KOEO... which means.... Key On / Engine Off ]
Do you now have a CE lamp lit at the cluster?
