Would this work with a laptop? Probably not since it uses different OS, however is there something under development from these folks for laptop users (Windows98 or WindowsME)?
Thanks... Alex |

I know! I was wondering this too! I would consider buying it if you could do it with a laptop. Otherwise, I am not buying a Palmpilot!

The good news is Yes!
The bad news is that it is more expensive than Ottoscan. You can essentially buy a new PDA and Ottoscan for the cost of the PC version. We're still working on that... More info will be available soon.

Not a bad idea if you can get the connection between the computer and car right... I found this: http://www.palmos.com/dev/tech/tools/emulator/ |

By far the industry standard for PC based OBDII scanning is the EASE corporation:
http://www.easesim.com/ I am sure they are working on a palm device if they haven't got it already. They have an inexpensive single protocol program for 2-300 last time I looked. They also make some interesting OBDII attachments; including a "black box" that will rat on your kids, employees, wives, husbands etc. It hooks to the OBDII connector and reads out such things (programmable) as top speed, top engine speed, top temperature, times of operation, miles driven, etc. It is wired such that removal is also recorded.

How do I know if my car has got an OBDII interface? Europe don't have the same emissions regulations that the US has...
Probably, if we have any similar regulations we were out with them before the US? Any chance that my 1991 AMG 3,4 has got one? It would be quite cool to hook it up to my laptop and see what's up! |

No serial data on 91 models. I would say Europe is behind the US in activating OBD laws. EOBD the new standard in Europe that is much like OBDII is a very recent happening.
