Does anyone of you with a M104 (300-24 valve) engine has ASR and a cruise control on his car???

I know that the US is the one-and-only country with cruise control and I was wondering whether the early 90 models came with ASR (& cruise control) as an option as well!
I was being told that I could not get a cruise control on my 300SL-24 because I have ASR...

I have a 1994 with ASR and Cruise Control but that was the year MB changed names from 300E to E320. I don't know about before '94. But if I am not mistaken '94 was also the first year with the M104(?).

DTF, thanks for the useful reply (there still is some hope).

Does anyone else with a 1990-1994 mercedes have cruise control and ASR or is there anyone who can tell me that I can add an OEM cruise control to my ASR equipped 300SL-24?

thanks in advance & greetingz,

If you have a manual transmission that would be the reason that you can't install factory cruise to your SL. This was one of the reasons that the SLK originally didn't come with cruise also. The US 300CE/E320CE came with ASR and cruise. The 104 engine debuted in the W124 in 1993 in the US.

I believe the M104 3.0L 24 valve engine was introduced in the 300CE/300SL in 1990. Later the 300E had this engine as an option or a different model if I remember correctly.

Mbenz, do you think the cruise control communicates with the Auto Tranny and bases it on revs to engage?

My friend had a 1971 Fiat, a tiny little car, and the cruise control was justa level that locked the accellerator in the postion you had it in. Of course I am sure you would not want to do this to your car.

This sounds useful! I have an auto transmission and I have factory mounted ASR...Is there any way that I can get information about the servo motor that is used on these ASR with cruise control cars? According to the MB partshop guy I talked to, the part#s for the servomotors are different (when used for either ASR or cruise control).
My 300SL is already equipped with the connector that fits the cruise control switch (below the steering column under the dash). Is there anybody who can provide me with an electrical layout for a cruise control combined with ASR on a early 90 6-cylinder?

Am I asking too much now?

You are right; I don't want to do that...
