95 e320 Cabriolet -No reverse or Drive
 

Hello,
My Transmission will not shift into any gear. I had driven it earlier today and now when I backed out I put it in Park, shut the gargage door, put it in reverse again and nothin, no sound nothin! The fluid level is good as is the color and there is no bad smell.

Even stranger is that I have noticed no signs of this coming on. It was fine and now it ain't!

The fluid was serviced 19000 miles ago. I have never had a problem with leakage.

Any help would be appreciated. Search words would also be great, I have tried several but found nothing yet.

Probably the band itself.

I have found lots of good info concerning the B2 piston. It seems that the B2 is associated with no forward gears but the reverse gear is working.

That both forward and reverse failed at the same time with no hint(that I was aware of!) seems weird. What, am I just lucky!

From the Alldata info it appears the B2 piston would not be to hard to replace.
The reverse gear problem seems to be more complicated to solve.

I am thinking about draining the fluid to see if anything shows up in the pan.
then removing the ....... and inspecting the springs etc.. It is abit of a desperation move but since I will be there anyway while changing the fluid I figure I may as well take a look.
I will replace the B2 piston once I get the bottom all buttoned up.


If nothing else maybe this will get me the forward gears and I can get it somewhere for further attention.

Sooooo folks, am I just pissin in the wind with this thought?

The one that interests me is No Transmission Engagement In All Drive Positions .

No Transmission Engagement In All Drive Positions

CAUSE/REMEDY:
1. With selection lever in "P" and the engine running, feel the transmission cooler flex-hose to check whether oil is flowing. If no oil can be felt, the primary pump is defective.

2. check freedom of movement of Control valve accumulator switching on (58) (for illustration, see Location of Components). See: Location of Components.

The 58 referred to above is the Shift Body Housing.

My questions is...Does "All Drive Positions" include reverse?
I am ASSuming it does.

"All drive positions" means all forward plus reverse. A front pump failure will certainly cause this lack of engagement.
