which brand are the best replacement rotors?

Closest aftermarket brake disc brands are Zimmermann & Balo. If you wish to keep the car long term then spend the money on OE. |
Replacement Rotors
Hi,
The rotors on my '87 300E lasted to 150K. I would NEVER allow any one to turn them. I was diligent about replacing the pads BEFORE they started cutting into the rotors. Anziani '87 300E 188K '95 E420 105K |

Never resurface the rotors, always replace them.
I like ATE rotors, and Textar pads. Great performance and long lasting. |
OE rotors are the way to go. I usually do rotors and pads at the same time every time. I've never spent more than $50 for an OEM MB rotor and the ones I just ordered for my SLK averaged $40 each for all 4. It just doesn't make a lot of sense to spend the time doing a brake job and leave old rotors on there, when I have done that I have had them warp after changing pads and then I had to basically do the job over anyway.
Go OEM from MB on all brake parts is my advice. In many cases the parts are the same cost or even less than aftermarket. |
