I've recently changed over to Euro style headlight, due mainly in part to the original headlamp adjusting pins being broken and the lights pointed directly down infront of the bumper. I purchased the Euro units from Adsit (very nice and easy to install) however, when I went to put the wiper motor and blade assembly back on, they stick out about an inch to far from the Euro lights. No contact is made between the blade and the lens of the light. Is there a different assembly available for Euro lights? If so, does anyone have any idea where I can purchase them?

Not sure if I can help, but I thought that the wiper shaft was adjustable in some fashion? You may have to pull of the body panel to get behind there and see...

Do a search on this one. The Euro wipers are different, and rotate in the opposite direction with longer blades. They are expensive to buy, but Barrie has posted an adaptor technique to reuse your old ones at Headlight Wipers & Euro Headlights

Good luck!

I just bought euros on my car too, same problem as you. There should be a way to "rig" it but even if you do, you cannot put the 94-95 wipers on them because of the difference in direction. The only way to properly solve the problems is buy new motors.

Next week I am going to call the dealer and order new wiper motors, wiper arms, wiper inserts, and plastic panel cover. The cost should be a little over $300.00.

can't the old motors be switched to opposite sides to compensate for the changed direction of the Euro wipers?

emr,

I thought about that and in theory it should work. I didnt try it because the stem is still too long which means you have to cut it, make a diff mount on the euro light, or some other form of rigging it.

Another thing is I dont know how it would fit to the frame of the car. the motors are not perfectly rectangular, they have a circle shape on one end and flat on the other, im not sure if there is room for it to swap sides. Since I didnt try it, i dont know for sure.

Instead of wasting time, I will just spend the money and get this over with once and for all.

Johnson Chan, In that case can you give the #s for all the necessary parts for the wipers (the longer ones that look like they come from the '94 E320) and motors for the conversion? I have some Eurolights on order from Performance Products (they said they have either Hella or Bosch, which is good enough for me). Also please let us know what source you'll be ordering from. Many thanks.

If you order the trim piece (for under the headlight) for a 94-95 E320, with the wiper motors and arms it will fit nicely. I had to have the trim piece painted to match the car and used the old gromets for the wiper arm motors. Most of the parts should be in stock at the dealer, I had no problems getting the parts. The wires just plug in same location as the original wiring. Then align the wipe patern and your good to go.

Thats what I did with 300CE and I think it looks great. Just my thoughts. Thanks.

Quick question....

Will changing from U.S. to Euro lights in a W126 cause the same headlight wiper problems? I did a search here and it appears that the wiper problem only affects the E series and not the W126. I am planning on putting Euro lights because I do a lot of drivingon back, country roads, but I don't want to fuzz with the headlight wipers. And yes, headlight wipers are effective where I live, so I don't want to do without them. thanks for your input.

Old moters can be adapted to Euro wipers

I had recycled my old motors ! I am stil working out some glitches with the washer motor.. it doesn't work probably due to switching motors left to right.
I took the apart took out the shufts, shortened them by sowing the ends off. Than humered back the litle gear on the shufts(requires some ingenuity). You would have to switch left to right and get the Euro whipers (about $20 a piece). As for the panels under the headlights, they have to be ordered from Europe. The 94/95 panels will work but they are about half inch shorter than your original panels !

Or buy the blank panels, drill the hole in the appropriate spot, and have them painted to match.

BENZ-LGB,

The 126 euro wipers are the same deal, they are 'backwards' compared to the US wipers. different wipers, motors, closing panels, etc. They are fairly easily sourced but add to the complexity of doing the job properly.

The 94-95 panels DO work for euro lights.

Basically I ordered all 94-95 parts, trim, wiper motor and wiper arms, it all works and looks good. I just have to pick up the painted parts tommorow at the body shop.

Thats what I did on my 300CE a while ago and no problems here. I think it looks great, like it came from Benz that way.

Just my thoughts. Thanks.

Thanks to all that replied. I have talked to a few parts suppliers and I can get the new motors for the euro lights at $99/each and another $39 for the shaft, arm and blade. I do not need the panel under the euro lights with the new alignment hole since the new lights came with them. So if anyone out there has a need for the old motor and blade assembly, I have the right and left that work.
