123 power steering pulley sizes?

i have found that my power steering res overflows when i am autocrossing it. 84 280e euro. anybody up on pulley sizes? can i swap in a larger ps pulley or a smaller crank pulley to slow it down a bit?

Tom, with the drive pulley's speed, being constant, increasing the diameter of the ps pulley will make it turns slower, per engine rpm, and reduce the pressure, in theory. But, you may have a pressure valve, so it will reach it's working pressure, later.

If you have not had this problem before and it just started acting up,you may have a pressure/relief valve plugging. The viscosity of the ps fluid may be old and has thickened in viscosity.

I would change the ps pump-fluid, to new ps fluid, and see what happens, before changing the pulley diameters. Paul.

excellent idea, paul.

i will try that first.

thanks for the good thinking.

Found this old thread that asks my question, but doesn't have an answer :(

I want to check my Tach rpm read out for accuracy after doing the EGR box bypass. I have a digital tach. To use it, I need a reflective patch on the flywheel. Not much luck from top getting a spot cleaned down there and tape that would stick. Also better to be closer with the meter.

On my 107, I used the PS pulley. Don't recall how I figured out whether or not rpms were the same. On my 85 300D, the pulley diameters look slightly different.

Have searched but haven't been able to find the diameters of the crank and PS pulleys.

Anyone know or have a source for specs?

Nobody have this information? I guess I will have to try and measure or get a piece of tape to stick to the crank pulley :(

While waiting for axles (see diesel forum), I want to get back to checking tach and vacuum.
