560 SEL 1st Gear start?

I have a 1990 560SEL with 150,000. Just replaced the aux. fans this morning days after boasting to my sister from out of town that I finally had the car just where I wanted it to be reliability-wise and that I would not hesitate to take it anywhere on any length trip! ( enter into the cabin the smell of burning electrical wires) Shame on me! So, anyhow, is it true that there is no longer any resource to aquire a 1st gear start module?

I'd like to know that also - awhile back I was considering a gear change.
I couldn't find the previous-available electronic fix, or the previous-available valve-body fix. I did find the note and a dwg about moving a spring in the valve body. but I also found comments about it causing major problems in the tranny.

FGS start modules are available. There are currently two options, one wiring in the old Gen I FGS module from Mercedes or two, we have a new one that works off of the ABS sensor signal etc which allows for some limited data acquisition etc..

Either can be supplied w/ the Euro E/S switch should you want to make it switchable.

Great!

As I am not one of the real "do it your-selfers" here, which one do I want? I want a little more thrust off of the line, but I am going to have to have my shop do what ever the install calls for. So which one ofd these is preferable?

Well, you know you can just click B whilst sitting @ the light and you'll be in first..

It's really 6 of 1, 1/2 dozen of the other...the later one is nice should you ever want to pull some 0-60, 1/4 mile times off your car..it's also programmable as to where you want your car to shift into 2nd.

Thus, were I going to have one installed the new/later style is the one I would go with.
