99 clk430 a/c only works when moving
 

when the car is still it blows heat, when driving the a/c works fine. there is a loud ticking under the hood when the a/c is on. locally no one will look at it, i'm about 100 miles from merc dealar.

any advice.

This sounds like the AUX cooling fans are not running = A/C head pressure and temperature rise above safe levels = safety switches turn off the compressor until pressure/temperature drops = more air flow with the car moving. :)
