W210 Rear Seat Removal

Looks like I need to replace the battery in my 96 E320 - I know it's under the rear seat but I'm not sure how to pull it out? I notice there is an indent on both sides but I don't know what is in there - a latch, a lever, something else? Appreciate the support.
Cheers, Socks E420

stick fingers into indents.
pull upwards towards the cabin roof (approx 5# pressure)
walla

There is no try; only do.

I say this because the seat cushion comes out very easily.

Yes, it is very easy both to remove and replace. Great time to vacuum up all the coins, etc. and make sure your battery hydrogen tube is properly routed.

And make shure you have the radio code, calling MB RoadSide assistance is a pretty good deal, about $125/50 they come out to you code, everything take the battery. No labor, just the cost of the battery.

Mine was full of uncooked macaroni. Lots of it.

Thanks for all the tips - especially the radio; however, now I have to find that code - anything special about putting in the code (assuming I find it)?

you may be able to avoid recoding radio if you plug in one of those 12 volt
power packs into the cigarette lighter before you swap out main battery.

code input procedure

when you input the code to the radio make sure you hit the "sc" button at the end. The radio will then come on.

Thanks for the sage advice - radio is up and running. Appreciate all the help!

The cigarette lighter outlet is switched, so that won't work on this car. I would hook to the jump-start post under the hood, if anywhere.
